The Pesseur house, on the riverside is one indication of the rich past. Before any bridges existed, the ferry was the only way to cross over the Cher around Bléré.
In 1871, the Prussians who were being chased out of the region after the war, set the château on fire, after which it was abandoned for many years.
Auguste BUCQUET - Parisian painter and architect - fell under its spell. He acquired the château and thus revived it through new life and activities.
