Traces of a Gallo-Roman aqueduct on the property mark the rich history of this place.

Gallo Roman Aqueduc of Fontenay

This aqueduct captured the waters of several sources south west of Bléré in order to direct them towards Caesarodunum, today known as Tours. Several remains of this aqueduct can be found near the Cher, on the Fontenay property. Very beautiful remains are visible a few kilometres away on the Veretz common.
